Click to view the full article (PDF) Consistent with the national pattern, about half as many African Americans as whites and even a smaller proportion of Hispanics earn college degrees in Southern Education States. Although minority college graduates are growing in this region, blacks are attaining bachelors degrees and higher at only two-thirds the rate of whites. In the last decade, degree-holding Hispanics in all but 4 Southern States have lost ground.
